The National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and the Case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Development Insights Lab (DIL) and the Centre for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) are pleased to announce a seminar on “The National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and the Case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” to be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Museum Hall, University of Peshawar.
This seminar will explore Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s role in the NFC formula, focusing on key issues such as resource allocation challenges and future opportunities in the wake of the FATA merger. Discussions will also address KP’s rights to natural and mineral resources and its capacity for local revenue generation following the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
Key stakeholders, including policymakers and experts, will provide insights into the evolution of the NFC Award, highlighting KP’s unique challenges and concerns regarding equitable resource distribution and fiscal autonomy. The seminar aims to foster critical dialogue on KP’s financial position and its implications for the province’s development.
The findings from this event will be documented and published to inform future policy decisions on the NFC Award and KP’s economic trajectory.
